Pazz Pomegranate for Sale

Pazz is a fruiting pomegranate grown for big, glossy dark-red fruit with juicy dark-red arils and soft, chewable seeds. Flavour is sweet-tart and rich — good fresh and for juice. The bush is upright, typically around 3m, and crops generously in a hot, sunny position.

Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Water while it establishes; after that it is remarkably drought-tolerant. Self-fertile. A second pomegranate nearby can improve yields. Ideal in the ground or a large container.

Pomegranate Tree - Pazz

Appearance

Large fruit with glossy dark-red skin when ripe. Arils are dark red, juicy and sweet-tart with soft, chewable seeds.

Harvest Time

Late summer into autumn, depending on local weather — often from around March.

Year to Bear

Grafted pomegranate trees typically begin bearing fruit within 1–2 years of planting.

Growth Rate

Upright, moderately vigorous shrub or small tree — typically around 3m, easily kept smaller with pruning.

Container Friendly?

Pomegranates grow well in large containers. Use a well-drained mix and keep watered through the growing season.

Sunlight

Full sun with good air circulation for best flowering and fruiting.

Watering

Water regularly while young. Once established, deep infrequent watering in the fruiting season is enough.

Temperature

Tolerant of moderate frost once established. Young plants may need protection in colder gardens.

Chilling

No strict chilling requirement. Deciduous in colder areas; semi-evergreen in mild climates.

Pollination Info

Self-fertile. A single tree will produce fruit. Planting two or more pomegranates improves yields.

Planting & Care Guide

Plant in well-drained soil in full sun. Pomegranates are extremely drought-tolerant once established and thrive in hot, dry conditions — exactly the conditions that suit much of South Africa.

Water regularly when young and establishing. Once the tree is well-rooted (after the first season), watering can be reduced significantly. Deep, infrequent watering during the fruiting season produces the best quality fruit.

Feed lightly with a balanced fertiliser in spring. Pomegranates do not need heavy fertilisation and will produce reliably in lean soils once established.

Prune in late winter if needed to shape the tree or remove dead and crossing branches. Pomegranates can be maintained as a multi-stemmed shrub or trained to a single trunk.
