Bon Chretien — known internationally as Williams or Bartlett — is the world's most famous pear. Medium to large yellow fruit with creamy, fragrant, juicy flesh that is outstanding eaten ripe and equally valued for canning, poaching and preserves.
In South Africa it remains a cornerstone home-orchard and commercial variety where winters are cold enough. Plant with a compatible pollinator such as Forelle, Rosemarie or Packham's Triumph for reliable fruit set.
