Peach mango is a South African garden and orchard selection grown for sweet, aromatic fruit with an attractive blush. Like other mangoes it needs genuine subtropical warmth — frost-free lowveld and coastal subtropical climates — and rewards that warmth with lush evergreen canopy and summer fruit.
Self-fertile grafted trees are the practical choice for home gardens. Reduce watering before flowering to encourage bud set, then resume regular watering as fruit develops.
Suited to KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga lowveld and Limpopo. Not for frosty Highveld winters without exceptional microclimate protection.
Appearance
Medium mangoes with attractive blush over yellow-green ground colour and sweet, aromatic flesh suited to fresh eating.
Harvest Time
Summer mango season — typically December to February depending on climate and season.
Year to Bear
Grafted trees can produce fruit within 2–4 years. Self-fertile.
Growth Rate
Moderate to vigorous evergreen. Can reach 5–8m if unpruned; prune lightly after harvest to manage size.
Container Friendly?
Can be grown in a large container with regular pruning. Best in the warmest, most sheltered position available.

Water regularly when young. Once established, reduce watering in the dry season before flowering to encourage bud set.

Planting & Care Guide
Plant in deep, well-drained soil in a warm, sunny, frost-free position. Mangoes are deep-rooting trees that need space and warmth to thrive.
Feed regularly with a balanced fertiliser during the growing season. Reduce irrigation during the dry pre-flowering period (typically May–July) to encourage good flower bud development — this is the single most important management step for getting a reliable mango harvest.
Prune lightly after harvest to maintain the tree's size and shape. Heavy pruning is not recommended as it delays the following season's fruit.
